When we say "lingering," we mean that the remaining kayakers, bikers, runners, climbers and other chiseled human machines still hanging around town probably have enough body power to run a nuclear plant for a few weeks.

The 2008 Teva Mountain Games did not disappoint. We just wish the streets of Vail could be filled with energy slushy samples, yoga demonstrations, kayakers dripping with glacier water and freeride bikers every day of the summer.
True to the spirit of the multi-sport nature of the Teva Games, local athletes Josiah Middaugh and Gretchen Reeves clinched the victory in the Ultimate Mountain Challenge, in which they had to compete in the grueling cross-country mountain bike race, steer a kayak through the rapids in the downriver event, run the 10K and haul their road bikes up Vail Pass. They both achieved all of these feats in less than 4 hours. Way to represent, guys! Making us proud.
Other highlights included American Alex Johnson winning the women's World Cup Bouldering contest while Austrian Kilian Fischhuber nabbed the top spot on the podium in the men's contest. Just watching them was making our arms shake.
Bionic forces were at large in the world of pro mountain biker Katie Compton, who not only dusted the women's field in the mountain bike race, but also flew past the pack to win the Hill Climb, too. Ryan Trebon won the men's mountain bike race while Benjamin Day won the Hill Climb, flying up Vail Pass in just over 30 minutes. Phew.
Check back for more video coverage of the Games. We'll have them up shortly!
