incredulous participants at the Alpine Bank tent outside of our office on Meadow Drive on Friday.
In the name of customer appreciation and its 35th anniversary, Alpine Bank, which consists of 25 establishments in the Colorado Rockies and Western Slope, set up a fish bowl of blowing cash.
Without a single catch, any passerby could step in the box as bank personnel activated an air blower, sending fake paper ones, fives and tens floating around as the individual grabbed furiously. Alpine then exchanged whatever amount was collected for cold hard cash.
Not a bad deal.
The free money box wrapped up its travels in Vail, having hit Gypsum, Eagle, Edwards and Avon earlier this week, with a cap of $3,000 in cash to give away each day.
The top grab was $75, and most of us walked away with something in the teens.
We don't know about any other upcoming opportunities to get free money, but if we hear of any ... we'll let you know how we do!
