A triumvirate of Vail powerhouses are joining forces in defense of the environment. Vail Resorts, Vail Sports and the Town of Vail are partnering with SnowSports Industries America for a three day “Keep Winter Cool: Snow Sports Recycling Solution” event, where locals can drop off old ski and snowboard equipment for recycling.
"Equipment in good condition will be donated to charitable domestic programs. Equipment not suitable to hand down will be transported to a facility south of Denver where it will be shredded and used in a variety of products including composite decking, flooring and furniture.
“Nearly every skier and snowboarder I know is concerned about the environment and trying to do the right thing to minimize their impact on the earth,” said Joe Walker, regional manager for Vail Sports. “This collaborative effort makes it very easy for Vail’s skiers and riders to do something meaningful in reducing landfill debris. In some cases, their unwanted gear may be suitable for use by future skiers and riders who couldn’t otherwise afford it.”
The drop off will be located at the east end of the Lionshead parking structure Thursday, November 13 through Saturday November 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
